Everyday work
The choices that need you
What lands in Needs your decision, and how to choose an option, defer or reject, with a reason.
On this page
Needs your decision holds only the choices that need a person. Routine work that is already authorised carries on without it, and silence never counts as approval.
What lands here
- Catalogue approvals: requests for a catalogue service that names you as the person who approves it.
- Business choices: a decision packet prepared for you, with a clear recommendation.
When there is nothing to decide, the page says A little breathing room.
Make a decision
Open a choice. A choice that needs you shows:
- Why this needs your decision
- The recommendation, its consequences and Material alternatives
- People affected and Reversibility
- What remains uncertain and when the decision is due
Under Your decision, Choose an option, Defer or Reject, give the reason Linen should record, and save. The decision and its reason stay in Decision history. Deferring keeps the exposure and the next date visible; it never quietly approves.
Catalogue requests
For a catalogue approval, Approve this request lets the fulfilment go ahead under the permissions you have already granted. Linen checks those permissions again at the moment it acts, so an approval never widens what it may do.
