Linen

Everyday work

Ask and follow a request

Ask in your own words, follow what is ready and what remains, and say when it is still not working.

On this page

Every request in Linen is one conversation. People ask in their own words; there is no category to pick and no approver to find. The same conversation then shows what Linen did, what is ready and what still needs someone.

Ask

Open Your work. Under What would make work easier? write what you need, the way you would say it to a colleague:

I need Orders access for the west-region cover this week.

Attach a file with Attach a file if it helps, then choose Send. Linen saves your message first, so nothing is lost if your connection drops, and opens the conversation.

If you would rather pick from a list, Or choose a known service under the conversation offers your service catalogue. It keeps the same request; it does not start a second one.

Follow it

The conversation shows, from the top:

  • The request and its state: open, paused, closed or cancelled.
  • Progress: one note for each responsibility, what happened and who owns the next step. Work that independent evidence has verified says so, and needs no acknowledgement from you.
  • What's ready, and what remains: each responsibility with its date and state. Temporary access shows its removal as a separate line, scheduled for the expiry you asked for.
  • Keep the conversation going: add a detail, change a date, or say what is still not working.
  • What happened: every message, in order.

Your earlier conversations are listed under Your conversations on Your work.

When it is not right

  • Still not working? reopens the conversation and records what is still in your way.
  • Cancel this request records your cancellation. It does not claim that something already done has been undone; anything uncertain stays visible until it is reconciled.

For the service team

People with service-team access (owners, operators and HR) also see:

  • Private note beside Shared reply in the composer. A private note is hidden from employees without service-team access.
  • Responsibilities needing you on Your work, listing the requests that wait on the team.
  • Service controls at the foot of each conversation: assign, pause or resume, and close. Closing a conversation is not evidence that the work was restored.
